Frequently Asked Qestions

At Paws 4 walkies your pet is first and foremost treated like our own. An initial consultation allows us to get to know each other before making any commitment and to make sure that everyone is happy. Many dogs who have become regulars on our books for walks have checked in for boarding meaning your pet is looked after by someone you know and trust in a ‘home from home’ environment following his/her usual routine and feeding times. Paws 4 walkies is fully insured, DBS checked and canine first aid trained. You can be assured that when you are away, your pet is enjoying new adventures with someone dependable and trustworthy.

We can arrange a mutually convenient time for a meet and greet appointment. We will go through a questionnaire and discuss your pet(s) requirements, sign a contract and obtain a key. It is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have, get peace of mind your pet will be in the best care and most importantly, for us to get to know your pet.

Your dog can be walked on or off the lead at your preference, however dogs will only be walked off the lead if we are satisfied of the level of recall.

Puppies should not be left on their own for longer than 2 hours at a time.  We can visit to clean up any accidents, provide short walks once vaccinations have been done and offer play time.

Your cat will be fed once or twice a day as per your instructions, fresh water, change of litter and cuddle/play time if needed.  If medication needs to be administered, this will be discussed in advance. We are happy to collect mail, water plants, open/draw curtains, put bins out and switch lights on and off.

A: Walks and cat visits can be booked within a time slot (usually within half an hour) unless medication has to be administered at a specific time which can be discussed at the meet and greet.

Yes, we will clean floors and carpets to the best of our ability. As per our terms, we cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to carpet or furnishings however as a result of pet soiling.

At the meet and greet, you will need to fill out our questionnaire and discuss any additional information and requirements.  Your pet will need to be up to date on vaccinations.  This is essential for dogs (please have a photocopy of the veterinary card or send a photo by phone or e-mail) and recommended for cats.  Keys can be collected at the free meet and greet appointment. This will be covered on the questionnaire completed at the time of the meet and greet and further covered by the terms and conditions.

We care for dogs, cats and small animals – rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils etc.  We do not care for any animals that have a history of biting, fighting or attacking other animals or people.

The hours of daycare are 8 am to 6 pm.  Drop off and collection can be arranged outside these times with prior arrangement for extra cost.

No, we do require an initial consultation before taking care of your pets.

Yes, although we cannot always promise availability.  Please contact us giving as much notice as possible.

Yes, absolutely. We update facebook regularly and are also happy to send pictures by Whatsapp.

Yes, we do. However, these are subject to a surcharge.  Please ask when booking.

Yes. Documents can be produced at the time of the meet and greet.

You can pay by cash or BACS.  All details are on our invoice and we kindly request payment within 7 days from the date of the invoice.

Deposits for boarding are non refundable.  Payment is required at least 24 hours prior to arrival in full and is non refundable regardless of whether you return earlier than expected.

For walks and day care, 24 hours notice is required or the walk will be charged in full.  This is because we may have turned people away to allow time for your pet’s walk or visit.  We appreciate your understanding in this matter

Keys can be collected at the first meet and greet.  They will not be labelled with your address and we have our own system to identify them.  Keys can then either be kept for future visits or returned at the end of your holiday.

You will be notified if food runs out and we have to purchase more.  This will be added to the invoice.

A contract will be signed by all parties at the time of booking.

We do not charge per pet for cat visits. For dogs, the second dog from the same household is half price.

The earlier you book, the more likely it is we will have availability.  We will do our best to accommodate last minute requests.

We know many places for suitable walks in and around Malton, away from the road.  When doing several pick ups for a group walk, we will arrange the final pick up nearest to the most convenient walking place.

The details of your pet’s veterinarian will be on file. In the unlikely event that your pet needs veterinary care, we will contact your nominated vet or if s/he is unavailable, the nearest available vet. We will contact you at the earliest opportunity to notify you.

Yes, the Control of Dog’s Order 1992 requires that all dogs wear a collar and tag showing the name and address of the owner.  When boarding, your dog will also wear a tag with the details of Paws 4 walkies.

Yes, with your consent providing your dog has no allergies.
